The SBI reported this incident.
On Saturday, he was informed of suspicion of illegal enrichment amounting to hundreds of millions of hryvnias and intentional evasion of military service. The former official attempted to evade the investigation by using elements of conspiracy, such as changing phone numbers, vehicles, and locations. Active searches lasted for two days, and eventually, through comprehensive investigative actions, he was located and apprehended in Kyiv.
Considering the former military officer’s attempts to evade justice, the SBI will request the court to keep him in custody without the possibility of bail.
Earlier, during the pre-trial investigation, the Bureau collected substantial evidence. Additionally, information from the media was studied for a thorough and unbiased investigation. Materials from the National Agency for Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) will also be examined, as they revealed signs of illegal enrichment amounting to over 188 million hryvnias in the former Odessa military official.
It’s worth noting that on June 23, Volodymyr Zelensky urgently instructed the Commander-in-Chief Valery Zaluzhny to dismiss Yevhen Borysov, the Odessa military official, after the discovery of his villa in Spain.
