NATO, Japan condemn Russian missile strikes on Ukraine

That’s according to a joint statement released by the leaders of Canada, the European Council, the European Commission, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

“We condemn the barbaric missile attacks that Russia perpetrated on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure on Tuesday,” the statement said.

The leaders of the countries that signed the statement discussed “the explosion that took place in the eastern part of Poland near the border with Ukraine.”

“We offer our full support for and assistance with Poland’s ongoing investigation. We agree to remain in close touch to determine appropriate next steps as the investigation proceeds,” the statement said.

In addition, the document reaffirms “steadfast support for Ukraine and the Ukrainian people in the face of ongoing Russian aggression, as well as our continued readiness to hold Russia accountable for its brazen attacks on Ukrainian communities.”

“We all express our condolences to the families of the victims in Poland and Ukraine,” the statement said.

Two people were killed in an explosion in the Polish village of Przewodów, Hrubeszów County, Lublin Voivodeship, not far from the Ukrainian border, on Tuesday, November 15. The incident occurred near a grain drying plant at around 15:40 local time.

Western media, citing sources in the intelligence agencies, reported that the incident could have occurred as a result of two Russian missiles crossing into Poland near the border with Ukraine.

Polish government spokesperson Piotr Müller asked the Polish media not to spread unverified information and to wait for official announcements.

On November 15, Russia launched a massive missile attack against Ukraine.
