He made the announcement at a press conference, as reported by RMF 24.
According to the minister, Polish military personnel did not inform him about the falling of the Russian missile in December, which they had been tracking after receiving a report from the Ukrainian side, and subsequently searched for it. However, the search operation was quickly suspended due to heavy snowfall.
Blaszczak stated that he only learned about the found missile fragments recently and ordered the operational command to verify the place of impact.
On April 27, it was reported that debris from an object similar to an “air-to-ground” missile was found near the town of Bydgoszcz in Poland. The debris had Russian-language markings, but its warhead was missing. Poland does not possess any Kh-55 missiles or systems capable of launching them.
Earlier, on November 15, 2022, a missile struck the Polish village of Przewodów near the border with Ukraine during Russia’s attack on Ukrainian cities and energy facilities. It was the first incident of a missile falling and exploding on the NATO country’s territory during the 2022 Russian-Ukrainian war, and two people were killed.
