Rheinmetall plans to build a factory in Ukraine for the production of air defense systems

This was announced by Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger during the company’s general meeting, according to the German Aid to Ukraine project in X.

The exact date for the start of construction of the joint venture has not been announced yet.

It is likely to be at least 1-2 years before production begins. As reported by Military, the enterprise will serve, among other things, as a repair base for anti-aircraft systems transferred from Germany to Ukraine, namely IRIS-T SL, Skynex 30, and Gepard. It should be recalled that back in March, it became known that the German defense conglomerate Rheinmetall announced plans to build at least four factories in Ukraine for the manufacture of weapons.

It is expected that such plants will produce ammunition, military equipment, and air defense systems.
