The pre-trial probe into the illegal activities of the Russian politician, born in 1968, is being conducted by the investigative department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol.
“Before the full-scale invasion, he, as a lawmaker of the current convocation of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, voted to grant permission to deploy troops on the territory of Ukraine,” the statement reads.
The suspect is a native of Mariupol, Donetsk region. It has been established that this year the person was awarded medals “of courage” and “of the liberation of Mariupol” by order of the so-called head of the so-called “DPR” Denis Pushylin.
According to the police investigation department for the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol, under the procedural guidance of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the lawmaker was charged under Part 1 Art. 110-2 and part 2 of Art. 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It is about the financing of actions carried out with the aim of altering the borders of Ukraine in violation of the order established by the Constitution, and encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine, committed by a government official.
In addition, eight searches authorized by the Holosiiv Court of Kyiv were conducted. Original paperwork confirming the suspect’s possession of 11 apartments in Kyiv were discovered and seized. Currently, the issue of imposing a seizure on the specified real estate is being resolved.
The pre-trial inquiry is ongoing.
As reported earlier, on December 12, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv seized all Ukraine-based property and assets of the ex-Vice Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, Oleksandr Babakov.
