Russians Plan to Remove Taliban’s Terrorist Organization Status

This was reported by the Russian propaganda outlet TASS.

Zamir Kabulov, Director of the Second Department of Asia at the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the Ministry positively assesses the potential removal of the Taliban from the list of banned organizations.

“This is necessary. Without this, it would be premature to talk about recognition. Therefore, this issue continues to be worked on. All considerations have been reported to Russia’s top leadership. We are awaiting a decision”, he explained.

Additionally, he mentioned that Russia has expressed a desire to see Taliban representatives participate in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

“Traditionally, Afghans are interested in continuing and expanding cooperation in the procurement of petroleum products from Russia and other high-demand goods. Of course, it will be promising to discuss using Afghanistan’s transit capabilities to expand trade with the larger region,” added the diplomat.

For context on Putin’s new allies, the supreme leader of the Taliban movement, Haibatullah Akhundzada, recently stated that women in Afghanistan will be stoned to death for adultery.
