In Kyiv, at the “Zoloti Vorota” metro station, safety trainings were held for citizens on actions during an air raid siren and what to do in first aid situations. “Ukrinform” reports about this and publishes a photo.
“In the first days of the war, more than 20,000 people took shelter in metro stations. Currently, the situation in Kyiv has conditionally improved, we are moving into a normal rhythm of life. But unfortunately, we hear sirens in it every day. That is why knowledge of safety rules during war is very important,” Viktor Braginskyi, head of the Kyiv Metropoliten CE said.
Citizens completed these safety trainings at four locations. At one of the locations, representatives of the ICRC told visitors how to provide first aid, for example, in a case of bleeding. First you need to inspect the place and, if it is safe there, then you can proceed to other steps. If it is dangerous, then it is necessary either to make the place safer, or to call the appropriate specialists.
The ICRC clarified that the second step in this situation is to examine the victim for bleeding, then for consciousness. The presence of consciousness in a person can be checked through verbal and tactile contact, for example, holding a person’s shoulder. If there is no reaction, then the person has no consciousness. Then check if a person is still breathing.
After that, it is necessary to call specialists to aid the person – yourself or ask someone for it. The next step is cardiopulmonary resuscitation. It is necessary for the person to lie on a hard surface, to free his chest from clothing and to perform an indirect heart massage.
At the same time, representatives of the ICRC clarified that not all cases require artificial respiration. These actions are mandatory for babies, children under 12 years old and for those who could drown in water. For adults, in other cases, these actions are not necessary.
In case of bleeding, it is necessary, among other things, to make a pressure bandage, which is applied to the wound. At the same time, having placed one piece of cloth on the wound itself, it is necessary to make a double tight knot on top of the first with another piece of cloth. If we are talking about tourniquets, then they must be placed as high as possible on the injured limb.
At another location, where there were psychologists of the State Emergency Service, various entertainments for work, including with children, were presented, and various souvenirs for schoolchildren were also presented to citizens here. The psychologists of the State Emergency Service told citizens what to do if a person, for example, has a panic attack and is in a shelter, etc.
Psychologists also talked about various breathing techniques that can help calm down anxiety.
The rescuers also demonstrated the contents of the emergency suitcase at the “civil defense” location and how to pack it correctly. The composition of the first aid kit was clearly presented on it. In this regard, among other things, citizens are advised to indicate in it the names and mobile phones of doctors and the medicines.
Citizens got acquainted with the list of household necessities, which basic food products should be put in the “emergency suitcase”. Among the important documents that need to be put there are passports, bank cards, spare keys, certificates, etс.
