The battle for Bakhmut has begun, says military expert

Military expert Petro Chernyk shared this information on KYIV24.

He stated, “The battle to retake Bakhmut has started! The enemy controls the city by 90%, but they have turned it into rubble, leaving no strategic value. It’s merely a political issue for them. Putin has declared to the world that they have taken it. Everything is moving towards an operational encirclement. We hope that this group will be destroyed or captured. It would be the first point of a cascading front collapse. Bakhmut, in a strategic sense, fulfilled its mission. The analyses from January to February did not prove themselves right. It was worth holding. This could be the first strategic defeat for Russia”.

As a reminder, on the Bakhmut direction, the Defense Forces have ousted the Russians from positions near Andriivka, and on the Staromykhailivka direction, they have achieved success and are consolidating their positions.
