The head of the Kyiv regional police, Andriy Nebitov, announced this at a briefing.
According to him, 717 people were shot dead by occupiers, while 340 died from mine and shrapnel injuries. The cause of death of 317 people was not established. Over the past year, 15 mass graves and three torture chambers have been identified.
“Unfortunately, 195 bodies remain unidentified. We have collected DNA samples from them, so we ask for information to be provided so that we can identify all Ukrainians who died in Kyiv region during the occupation”, Nebitov said.
He added that 279 people are considered missing. According to the head of the regional police, there is information that some people are in Russia – they were forcibly taken there during so-called evacuations.
“We understand that some of these people are in prison, as the Russians are preparing an exchange fund”, Nebitov said.
As we reported, 1,374 Ukrainians, including 38 children, were killed by Russians in Kyiv region, and 34 infants were injured.
