The IMF has provided Ukraine with $880 million for priority expenditures

Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal, announced this.

According to him, these funds are intended to cover priority budget expenditures and support macrofinancial stability.

“Ukraine continues to successfully fulfill its obligations to its partners. We are already preparing for the next program review. Grateful to the IMF for the support and cooperation!”, he emphasized.

It is known that this is already the third similar transfer of financial support under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program. Earlier, the IMF approved the disbursement of this tranche to Ukraine.

It was noted that the Ukrainian government continues to work effectively within the EFF program, meeting all but one of the quantitative performance criteria by the end of December 2023 and all structural benchmarks by the end of February this year.

The IMF also noted that in 2023, the Ukrainian economy proved to be more resilient than expected, particularly due to robust growth indicators, sharp disinflation, and maintaining an adequate level of reserves. In December, Ukraine received the first tranche under the IMF cooperation program of nearly $900 million.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal later announced that the IMF is preparing a mission for the second review of the Extended Fund Facility program, which will allow for the disbursement of the next tranche of assistance.
