The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to Orbán’s statement that “Ukraine cannot defeat Russia”

He made these comments in an interview with Bloomberg.

According to the Hungarian Prime Minister, NATO is not prepared to send its troops to Ukraine, and without their assistance, Ukraine supposedly cannot defeat Russia.

“Looking at the numbers, looking at the positioning, the fact that NATO is not ready to send troops, it is evident that the impoverished Ukrainians do not have the capability to win on the battlefield”, Orbán said.

He emphasized that the war can only be stopped if Russia reaches an agreement with the United States. Orbán also expressed hope that Donald Trump will win the presidential elections in the United States in 2024.

In response, Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Oleg Nikolenko stated that it is critically important to unite efforts in order for Ukraine to achieve victory as quickly as possible.

“The same European politicians claimed last year that Ukraine had no chances of holding out for more than 72 hours. They were wrong then, and they are wrong now. Unlike those who advocate surrendering to the enemy without resistance, Ukrainians will continue to fight until their territories are completely liberated from Russian occupation. This is not only the path to restoring peace in Ukraine, but also ensuring the security of the entire Europe”, he emphasized.

It is worth mentioning that Hungary has blocked the allocation of the eighth tranche from the European Peace Fund for the purchase of weapons for Ukraine, which Ukraine was supposed to receive on May 28.
