This was announced by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
“Four squadrons of F-16s (48 aircraft) are exactly what we need to liberate the country from the aggressor”, the statement said.
As we reported, Ukraine hopes to receive 40-50 F-16 fighters from its allies.
In this way, Ukraine will form three or four squadrons to defend its airspace against Russian bombings. It is known that the United Kingdom will begin training Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighters this summer. Recently, Denmark also announced the training of Ukrainians on F-16s. Together with the Netherlands, they will lead the European coalition to conduct training for Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighters. The corresponding training infrastructure will be developed in the coming weeks.
Furthermore, Norway stated that they will also train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighters.
