This was revealed in a live interview on the “Kyiv” television channel by Ukraine’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs (2014-2019), Pavlo Klimkin.
“I wouldn’t have high hopes for Macron’s visit to China. But it’s an opportunity to discuss positions during closed negotiations. China won’t budge from its position. China is playing its own game, and will continue to use Putin and his regime. China’s main goal is to show Macron that France and Europe are special. He wants to have separate dealings with Europe and the US. If Macron thinks he can bring China to the side of the West, it’s a futile effort. We expect that China will come to understand that direct support for Russia is not just a red line, but that China could become a partner”, Klimkin believes.
