Ukraine has already returned 2,015 citizens from captivity

This was announced by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, during a national telethon.

According to him, the Ukrainian authorities have approximate data on how many of our fellow citizens are held in captivity in Russia, but this number is not made public.

“This helps us – the fact that we do not publicly report the figures. Neither in terms of those we are holding on our territory – Russian prisoners of war, nor those that Russia holds in captivity. This is done deliberately, including in order to more effectively return our people home”, the ombudsman assured.

Lubinets also noted that the condition of the released individuals from Russian captivity on Monday is extremely difficult.

“It is also about physical condition. Among them are severely wounded, there are those who have lost a lot of weight, there are those who are in a difficult psychological state. And all this is evidence that Russia continues to keep our prisoners of war in unsuitable conditions, sometimes not providing elementary things – enough food or water”, he said.

Recall that on Monday, April 10, another exchange of prisoners of war took place between Ukraine and Russia, during which another 100 defenders were returned.
