This information was provided by Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, during a national telethon. There is information that the enemy is conducting reconnaissance on Ukrainian energy infrastructure, and the threat of repeating terrorist attacks exists.
According to Yusov, Ukraine is actively preparing for this scenario, emphasizing that one cannot expect the aggressor country to abandon its plans to attack the energy sector. He stressed that the country must take this threat seriously, both in terms of citizens’ preparedness and the response of the Defense Forces.
Yusov also mentioned that the current production rates of missile weapons in Russia do not allow them to replenish their reserves to previous levels. He reminded of the largest attack by Russians when they simultaneously launched 120 rockets at Ukraine. According to Yusov, the occupiers are currently incapable of such an attack, but the threat remains.
Threat of RF attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector In July, the Main Intelligence Directorate announced that Russia had started studying the state of Ukraine’s energy sector, using various forms of intelligence.
In addition, the head of the “Energy” sector stated that if the Russians concentrate strikes on Ukraine’s generation facilities, the upcoming winter could be extremely challenging.
At the end of July, Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Russia would attempt to repeat the terror attacks on Ukraine’s energy sector in the upcoming autumn and winter.
In August, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal noted that the government had begun preparing the energy sector for future Russian attacks.
On September 19, the Ministry of Energy announced that Ukraine had fulfilled the plan for early gas storage. Currently, 14.7 billion cubic meters of gas have been injected into underground gas storage facilities, which is sufficient for the heating season.
