Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda stated this, as reported by LRT.
“We practically compared the data we have. We can confirm that the number of Wagner militants deployed in Belarus has already exceeded four thousand or close to this number. Some of these militants have approached our border, taking positions in the Grodno region”, said Nauseda.
According to the Lithuanian leader, this situation on the country’s borders is very convenient for organizing provocations both on the Polish-Belarusian and Lithuanian-Belarusian borders.
Nauseda emphasizes that the protection of the Lithuanian border has already been strengthened, and plans for border defense have been prepared and updated. He believes that the number of Wagner militants in Belarus could increase to 10 thousand, which poses a significant temptation for both Putin and Lukashenko to use their presence in close proximity to the western border of Belarus for possible provocations against NATO countries.
Earlier, a Ukrainian Army General stated that the Wagner PMC members in Belarus do not possess heavy weapons for an offensive.
