Quote from Zelenskyy: “Representatives of the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency] have already arrived in our country and are set to visit the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. It’s an important mission, and we are doing everything we can to ensure its safety and that it is able to carry out its work to its full extent.
[…] The occupiers remain at the plant; they keep shelling [the areas in its vicinity], and have so far failed to withdraw their weapons and ammunition from the territory of the NPP. They threaten our plant’s staff. Russia’s actions mean that there has not been a single hour when the risk of a radiation disaster would subside.
[…] I hope that together with international organisations, [together] with all our partners, Ukraine will be able to regain full control over the [ZNPP] and force Russia to withdraw all its military personnel and weapons from the plant. The ZNPP must be urgently and completely demilitarised.”
On Tuesday, 30 August, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Rafael Grossi, Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), and other members of the organisation’s mission to the ZNPP.
