The transfer of the ship is part of France’s efforts to support Ukraine in its conflict with Russia. France has also announced plans to provide Ukraine with long-range missiles and additional self-propelled artillery units, including the Caesar system.
“France has handed over a second pilot ship to support Ukraine, as promised. The vessel left Dunkirk; it will help export grain to help feed the world. Our commitment is total, our solidarity will not cease,” wrote the minister.
