The relevant statement was published by the NSDC press service.
The National Security and Defense Council emphasized that “the right to life is an inalienable right of every person”, and the state is obliged to ensure the creation of conditions for effective and accessible medical services for everyone.
“The lawful use of medical cannabis for therapeutic purposes is a matter that has been discussed not for the first time. At the same time, access to cannabis-based medications can help reduce the severity of pain in cancer patients or patients with epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or psychological disorders”, the statement said.
The department noted that according to the Ministry of Health, over 2 million Ukrainians currently need such medications, and the war will lead to an increase in the number of people with mental health problems.
“There is a significant amount of scientific research today, as well as conclusions from specialized international institutions confirming the therapeutic effect of medical cannabis and its effectiveness for medical purposes. The adoption of bill No. 7457 will be another step towards humanism and orientation towards people’s needs”, the NSDC emphasized.
Recall that at the end of June, President Volodymyr Zelensky supported the legalization of medications based on medical cannabis in Ukraine. The bill on medical cannabis was introduced to the Parliament in June of last year. In turn, the head of the Coordination Council of the BO 100% Life, Dmytro Sherembei, stated that the use of sedative medications based on CBD is extremely necessary to stabilize the health of a person injured in combat.
