Over the first half of 2022, less than 100,000 foreign tourists visited Kyiv

According to the administration of the State Border Service of Ukraine, 98,000 foreigners visited Kyiv in the first half of 2022, which is three times less than in the same period of 2021 (308,300 people). This is reported by the Department of Tourism and Promotions of the Kyiv City State Administration.

It is indicated that this is due to the introduction of martial law in Ukraine from February 24, 2022.

“Over the past few years traditionally the foreign visitors to Kyiv have been citizens of Israel, Germany, Turkey, the United States, the United Kingdom, Poland, France, Italy, Azerbaijan, and India (60% of the total flow of foreigners who visited Kyiv),” the message says.

The Kyiv budget for the first half of 2022 received UAH 24 million. from the tourist tax, “because during January-February 2022, Kyiv was visited by international and domestic tourists, including during the New Year holidays.” And after the declaration of martial law, mass media and international organizations representatives lived in the capital’s hotels. After the end of active hostilities in Kyiv, tourists began to visit the city.

The Kyiv City State Administration reminds that in order to attract citizens and guests of Kyiv, and especially internally displaced persons, to active and cultural recreation, free walks are organized in the city, on the route of which shelters are provided.
