Deputy Minister of Defense, Hanna Maliar, announced this development.
She stated, “Regarding blood transfusions, I hope we have resolved this issue. Combat medics will have the right to perform blood transfusions. The main point of discussion was to ensure that these individuals receive proper training”.
According to the Ministry of Health’s data, over 60% of deaths on the battlefield are due to blood loss. Timely blood transfusions or its components can significantly reduce this figure, as it will allow more time to transport the wounded to a hospital.
Previously, only medical personnel and military servicemen with medical education and practical transfusion skills were allowed to perform blood transfusions. However, combat medics disagreed with this restriction.
