Kyiv assures its friendship and further cooperation with Canada, the Kyiv Council emphasized.

In the Shevchenkiv district, the green area along Kostolna Street was named “Canadian Square” as a sign of support for friendly relations between the people of Canada and Ukraine. This is reported by the website of the Kyiv Council.

This decision was made today, July 14, at the plenary session of the II session of the Kyiv City Council of the IX convocation by the majority of deputies.

Mayor Klitschko was the initiator of the decision to give the name of “Canadian Square” to the green zone.

As noted by the secretary of Kyiv Council Volodymyr Bondarenko, the friendship and cooperation between Ukraine and Canada is getting stronger every day.

“Today we are not just assigning the name of the square, we are strengthening our friendly ties. International organizations and governments of democratic countries help Ukrainians to resist the enemy. We are grateful to our Canadian partners for their constant support on the diplomatic front, as well as the humanitarian aid provided. The strong ties between nations will not be broken as long as we remain true to the ideals of freedom. Kyiv openly confirms its friendship and further cooperation with Canada,” said Bondarenko.

The official added that “Canada Square” is “a beautiful and landscaped green area where residents spend their spare time every day.”
