On Friday, May 31, Ukraine returned 75 people from Russian captivity. Among them are soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) and the National Guard, border guards, and four civilians.
This was reported by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.
“All this time, we have not stopped working for a single day to bring each and every one of our people back from Russian captivity. And today we have an important result: 75 more of our people have returned to Ukraine”, he stated.
According to the President, the returnees from Russian captivity include soldiers of the AFU and the National Guard, border guards, and four civilians.
“We remember everyone. We are doing everything possible to find each and every one. Thank you to the team working on the exchanges”, he noted.
Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, stated that Ukraine is seeking intermediaries to influence Russia regarding the exchange of Mariupol defenders. It is known that over 1,900 defenders still remain in Russian captivity.
The last exchange took place on February 8. At that time, Ukraine returned 100 people from captivity, most of them Mariupol defenders.
