All the necessary works are at the final stage and the Kyiv residents will be provided with the necessary services, the mayor Vitali Klitschko assured.

The capital of Ukraine is preparing for the next heating season in an intensified mode, under all the circumstances of the martial law. Despite the critical situation with funding and the supply of materials, the city’s utility services planned hydraulic tests of heating networks and replaced almost 20 km of the most emergency sections. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced this during a meeting with the Minister of Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine Oleksiy Chernyshov.

He noted that in recent years, Kyiv has begun a large-scale modernization of the capital’s thermal energy complex.

“In 3 years, we carried out a large amount of work at the thermal power plant (in the amount of about 550 million UAH), started the reconstruction of the “Energia” plant and replaced 360 km of networks (this is 10% of those networks that have not been renewed for more than 60 years). It is important that this was a comprehensive modernization and made it possible to reduce the failure rate of networks by 10% and heat losses by 5%,” Klitschko noted.

Despite the fact that today Kyiv is preparing for winter under martial law, all the necessary works are at the final stage and the citizens of Kyiv will be provided with the necessary services.

“It is also important that this year the city attracted an EBRD loan of 140 million euros for the comprehensive modernization of the Kyiv heat energy system. In addition, we actively implemented energy-saving technologies. For example, the city launched co-financing programs, which allowed for the thermal modernization of more than 1,000 residential buildings. The capital allocated UAH 1.1 billion for this, and the residents of the buildings – UAH 350 million. Savings heat payment in individual houses exceeded 70%. In total, we have already implemented 1,200 energy-efficient projects and will continue this large-scale program,” Klitschko said.

According to the mayor, hydraulic tests in the capital are already at the final stage. Workers have repaired 1,700 heating networks and are actively restoring hot water supply to the capital’s residents.
