Bandura performer Roman Hrynkiv and vocalist Larisa Dedyukh took part in the unusual concert, and they managed to raise 25,000 hryvnias to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This is reported in the capital’s telegram channels.
“Building No. 1” or “Stalin metro” is a grandiose Soviet project that was classified as “secret”. The construction was started in 1938. It was assumed that these tunnels were supposed to replace the bridges in case of their destruction. It was planned to launch railway traffic under the Dnipro River, according to the plan, the trains were supposed to run underwater in two directions, and if necessary, the rails could be moved in such a way that military equipment could move through the tunnels.
The object was planned to be handed over in 1944, but the construction and installation work was suspended, the walker shields and some other equipment were submerged in underground structures due to German bombing and before the threat of Kyiv being captured.
In the post-war period, the tunnels were closed, and only recently, they began to be used for tourism.
