The exhibition about the monument has opened in the Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War.

This was reported in the press service of the museum.

The message noted that the Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War opened an exhibition dedicated to the perception of the Motherland monument.

“The motherland. Redefining” demonstrates the transformation of the image in the perception of Ukrainian society. According to museum staff, Ukrainians no longer perceive the monument as a Soviet monument, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the monument has become a symbol of resistance to Russian aggression.

The exhibition shows the images of the Motherland, which appeared on the Internet after the beginning of the war. Creative, sometimes unexpected images of the monument are presented on the walls of the 18th-century ravelin Lower Moscow Gate of the Pechersk Fortress. Visitors see images from electronic devices,” curator Zhanna Ocheretyana says.

At the opening, the Sera Sheer group performed the “official soundtrack” of the project: in the video sequence to the composition Motherland destroys the Russian monster.

Museum opening hours  from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., closed on Mondays. The entrance ticket costs 50 hryvnias.

The exhibition has already been visited by the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko. According to him, the Ukrainians hastened the decision to replace the coat of arms of the USSR with a trident for “Motherland”, as there are no less interesting options.
