United States Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget A. Brink has noted Ukraine’s determination and the active role of the United Nations and Türkiye in the resumption of grain shipments.
“Ukrainian grain will continue to feed the world, thanks to Ukraine’s determination and the active role of the United Nations and Turkey. As we discussed with Oleksandr Kubrakov, resumption of grain shipments and the renewal of the initiative will help lower prices and get food to those who need it,” Brink wrote.
A reminder that, on October 29, 2022, Russia announced its withdrawal from the Black Sea Grain Initiative, allegedly due to attacks on the Black Sea Fleet at the Bay of Sevastopol. Despite Russia’s declaration, twelve grain ships left the Ukrainian ports on October 31, 2022.
On November 2, 2022, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated the ‘grain corridor’ had resumed its work, and grain shipments would continue.
