There has been an explosion near the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNP) reactor.
According to a post from the press service of Energoatom, a blast occurred near the turbine hall of the fourth power unit of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, caused by a Russian mine.
Supposedly, the Russians themselves claimed that it was their mine that detonated. It is also reported that Ukrainian nuclear workers at the plant heard the sounds of the explosion.
However, the Russians allegedly tried to “calm down” the employees and quickly hide the evidence so that IAEA experts would not see it.
“The Russian occupiers continue to turn the Zaporizhzhia NPP into a military base, mining the perimeter around the plant. And these actions cannot but have consequences”, the post stated.
The occupiers are building an additional fence to enclose the approaches to the Zaporizhzhia NPP, effectively expanding the closed perimeter around the plant, allegedly preparing it for defense. According to American media reports, in October 2022, the Ukrainian army attempted to retake the ZNP, but the operation failed.
