The recovery of Ukraine will begin this year. Currently, the country needs more than $14 billion for relevant projects.
This was stated by Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denys Shmyhal.
As the head of the government explained, during his trip to the United States, a memorandum was signed with DFC and USAID regarding the support for investment attraction in Ukraine for the implementation of priority projects for recovery and development.
“One of the key topics discussed during this visit was the plan for the recovery of Ukraine. Such recovery begins already this year, and we need to mobilize $14.1 billion for relevant projects”, said the Prime Minister.
It should be noted that the Japanese government agency, JICA, will provide $400 million for the restoration of critical infrastructure in Ukraine. The funds will be allocated within the framework of the Emergency Restoration Program, aimed at critical infrastructure. The grant agreement was agreed upon already at the end of March 2023.
In addition, the Minister of Finance of Japan, Sunichi Suzuki, confirmed that the Japanese government plans to provide $3.5 billion in direct budget support to Ukraine during 2023. These funds will allow financing priority expenditures, including social and humanitarian spending.
