The government of the Czech Republic has allocated over $1 million (22 million Czech crowns) to train transport pilots from Ukraine who will work on cargo planes.
The decision was made by the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs on April 26th.
“This is a continuation of pre-war cooperation, and primarily we are giving Ukrainian civilian pilots the opportunity to undergo the necessary training, which is currently impossible to obtain at home in Ukraine. The rapid restoration of civil aviation in Ukraine will play a significant role in this process”, said Czech Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský.
The training will take place in the Czech Republic. In the first stage, 20-25 students from the National Aviation University in Kyiv will be selected, according to the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is noted that the training of Ukrainian pilots will be financed through the program of humanitarian, stabilization, recovery, and economic assistance to Ukraine. The funds will be provided annually from 2023 to 2025.
The main goal of the project is to provide Ukrainian civilian pilots with the necessary training, which is currently impossible to obtain in Ukraine, and to support the restoration of civil aviation in Ukraine.
