The Russians want to tie up Ukrainian reserves advancing towards Bakhmut.
This was reported on KYIV24 by Yuriy Fedorenko, the platoon commander of the 92nd Separate Mechanized Brigade “Achilles”.
“We need to take a comprehensive view of the front line. In the relatively calm areas, the enemy has started using strike-assault groups. The enemy intends to engage our reserves advancing towards the city of Bakhmut and its outskirts. The defensive forces have managed to improve the situation and dislodge the enemy from their positions. The main task is to break the grip around the city of Bakhmut. The enemy planned to surround the city and cut off supply routes, so that the defense forces would have reserves and ammunition for the city’s defense”, he reported.
As previously reported, the AFU has stabilized the flanks on the Bakhmut direction. It is noted that, in addition to progress to the south of Bakhmut, the Ukrainian military has pushed back the Russian front line to the northwest of the city. This has allowed the Ukrainian Defense Forces to safely use Highway 0506, which is a key supply route.
