Poland cannot provide Ukraine with F-16 fighters as there is a limited number of them in the country, but they are willing to transfer MiG-29 aircraft.

President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, made this statement in Reykjavik, as reported by wPolityce.

“We have a relatively small number of F-16s. We are ready to support the training process for Ukrainian pilots – I have discussed this with the Prime Minister and the Minister of National Defense, Mariusz Blaszczak. However, the number of F-16 aircraft that we possess does not allow us to talk about transferring any part of them to Ukraine today”, he said.

At the same time, Duda assured readiness for further transfer of MiG-29 aircraft to Ukraine.

He also noted that Poland was the initiator of creating a coalition for military support to Ukraine.

It is worth recalling that the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine hopes to receive 40-50 F-16 fighters from allies, which would enable the formation of three or four squadrons to protect Ukrainian airspace from Russian bombardments.

It was also reported that Belgium cannot supply F-16 fighters to Ukraine, but they are willing to train Ukrainian Armed Forces pilots.
