The Armed Forces of Ukraine assure that the detonation of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station dam by the Russians will not hinder the Defense Forces from continuing to liberate temporarily occupied territories.
This was reported by the Strategic Communications Department of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Ukraine is equipped with all necessary floating equipment and pontoon bridge crossings to overcome water obstacles. The enemy’s treacherous actions, which create social and economic crises, will not stop the Defense Forces of Ukraine, which are ready to liberate the occupied territories of Ukraine”, the statement said.
The department noted that the military leadership of the Russian Federation destroyed the dam due to “their fear of the Ukrainian army” and “the successes of the Defense Forces of Ukraine in offensive operations”.
As a result of the destruction of the Kakhovka Hydroelectric Power Station dam, there is a threat of flooding up to 80 populated areas. Evacuation of residents in the affected areas is underway. Evacuation trains to Mykolaiv have been organized.
The Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is under threat due to the destruction of the Kakhovka reservoir. The central and regional authorities are working to resolve the problem.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky convened an emergency meeting of the National Security and Defense Council.
