On the Bahmut sector, Ukrainian forces have transitioned from defense to offense, and over the past day, defenders have advanced distances ranging from 200 to 1100 meters on different sections.
This was reported by Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Maliar.
“The enemy in the Bahmut sector has switched to a defensive stance, attempting to hold their positions. Currently, the enemy is mobilizing reserves from the rear to reinforce their defense”, Maliar noted.
According to her information, “Wagner mercenaries” remain in some rear units. At the moment, the combat operations are being carried out by the regular army of the Russian Federation and involved airborne assault units. As the Deputy Minister pointed out, the ability to maintain the defense and carry out the offensive in the Bahmut sector for such a long time is due, in particular, to pre-prepared fortifications.
“The entire surrounding area is essentially a fortified zone. The fortifications were prepared in advance by our forces and local military administrations. They were built to withstand”, she added.
According to the Deputy Minister’s information, the east remains the epicenter of the hostilities.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelensky also stated that Ukraine is ready for a counteroffensive. He emphasized that while the Ukrainian army did not receive “all the armament it hoped for, but we cannot wait any longer”.
