Lviv is in negotiations with UNESCO, which will assist in the reconstruction of buildings that are historical heritage sites, destroyed by a Russian missile on July 6.
The Mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi, reported this information.
“We are currently in talks with UNESCO. They will help in rebuilding the buildings that belong to the historical heritage”, he stated.
According to him, 600 wooden windows have already been ordered for the buildings that are architectural landmarks and were damaged during the missile attack. They are currently being manufactured, and it will take some time.
Owners of buildings that do not belong to the historical heritage are already replacing the windows themselves, with assistance from an American foundation.
Furthermore, Sadovyi noted that residents of the four most destroyed buildings on Striyska Street will receive compensation from the city for their housing rent. The compensation will be paid until their houses are fully restored.
As a reminder, on the night of July 6, Russia attacked Lviv with missiles, hitting a multi-story building. Five people were killed as a result of the shelling. The damages included over 30 buildings, more than 250 apartments, 10 dormitories, a children’s home, two universities, and a sanatorium school.
