The Rada appealed to UNESCO, parliaments, and governments of its member states, urging the necessity of revoking Russia's membership in the international organization.

This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.

On behalf of the Ukrainian people, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine is addressing UNESCO regarding the further expulsion of the Russian Federation from UNESCO and its bodies.

Additionally, the parliament requests UNESCO to promptly send a mission to assess the damages caused by Russian attacks on the World Heritage sites in Lviv and Odessa. The mission is also to determine UNESCO’s assistance and possible actions to protect the cultural heritage sites in Ukraine from Russian aggression.

Ukraine also appeals to the parliaments and governments of foreign states, requesting them to take all possible measures to investigate the crimes, hold the perpetrators accountable, and ensure fair punishment for all those responsible, within the framework of national and international jurisdictions.

The resolution received the support of 296 members of parliament.

As a reminder, the Rada also called on the international community to facilitate the exchange and return of defenders of Mariupol who are currently in Russian captivity.
