President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held a conversation with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić.
President Zelensky reported this meeting.
“An open, honest, and productive conversation with President Vučić of Serbia. A good discussion. About respect for the UN Charter and the inviolability of borders. About the future of our nations in a common European home. About developing relations, which are our shared interest”, he stated.
It’s worth noting that after the start of Russia’s full-scale attack on Ukraine, Serbia became the only candidate country for EU membership that refused to impose sanctions against Russia.
Additionally, mass pro-Russian marches are taking place in Belgrade, and Serbian mercenaries continue to fight on the side of the “DNR”/”LNR” militants.
However, officially, Serbia supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine, has not recognized the annexation of Crimea, condemned the full-scale aggression against Ukraine in the UN General Assembly, and has even accepted a small number of Ukrainian refugees. Some Serbs also sympathize with Ukraine and provide assistance to Ukrainians.
Recall that on July 26, during a visit to shooting ranges at one of the military bases, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić stated that the country monitors events in Ukraine daily and studies their experience.
