Russian military forces have achieved some success near Kupiansk. However, they could find themselves in a cauldron there if Ukrainian defenders advance along the Bakhmut direction.
This was stated by Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov during a press conference.
According to him, the enemy is trying to divert the attention of the Ukrainian Armed Forces from the south and east towards the Kupiansk direction.
“General Syrsky, who commands the group of forces ‘Khortytsia,’ simultaneously holds the defense on that front and counterattacks on the Bakhmut direction. The Russians seem to be making some progress there, but if we advance, then they will end up in the cauldron”, Reznikov explained.
The Minister emphasized that Ukrainian units from the south are not being redeployed. Meanwhile, the Russians are constantly moving their units: from the Kherson region to the southern (Zaporizhzhia) direction, and from the south to the Eastern direction.
According to him, such actions by the occupiers are a positive sign for Ukraine.
Recall that Reznikov called the press conference regarding the scandal with jackets for the Ukrainian Armed Forces. He also revealed that he is not currently discussing the possibility of his resignation with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
