The appointment of Rustem Umerov as the Minister of Defense of Ukraine was supported by 338 deputies.
This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak.
Umerov will replace Oleksiy Reznikov, who was dismissed by the Council on September 5th. Before his appointment, the new head of the Ministry of Defense held the position of the Chairman of the State Property Fund.
Umerov worked on the establishment of the “grain corridor” and was involved in prisoner exchanges.
In the spring of 2022, Umerov was part of the Ukrainian delegation that participated in several rounds of negotiations with Russia.
He was present at talks in Belarus and Turkey.
