The mayors of Kyiv and Berlin, Vitali Klitschko and Kay Wegner, have signed an agreement on partnership between the cities.

This was announced by the mayor of the Ukrainian capital, Klitschko, and confirmed by the Berlin city administration.

The sister city agreement was concluded during the visit of the mayor of Kyiv to Berlin. The document includes cooperation in various areas, including support in case of natural disasters, and establishes a channel for bilateral communication for this purpose.

Specifically, Klitschko and Wegner discussed further assistance and the transfer of municipal buses and equipment from Berlin to Kyiv, as well as Berlin’s support in creating a municipal prosthetics center for veterans in Kyiv.

“Berlin is already prepared to send several prosthetists from innovative Berlin companies to share experience and provide practical training to Ukrainian specialists”, announced the mayor of Kyiv.

For the German capital, which previously had 17 sister cities, this agreement marks the first new sister city in 23 years. Berlin becomes Kyiv’s third German sister city after Munich and Leipzig.
