On the night of October 2nd, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine using kamikaze drones and guided aerial bombs. Four drones were successfully intercepted, but there were also hits.

This information was reported by Natalia Humeniuk, the spokesperson for the Southern Operational Command (SOC), during a telethon.

According to her, the enemy deployed 18 UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) during the night, targeting civilian infrastructure and residential areas.

“This is once again targeting civilian infrastructure and residential areas. A hospital and critical infrastructure facilities have been damaged”, Humeniuk noted.

However, the drone attack was not very extensive. It is probable that the aggressors intended to gather information about the location of air defense systems.

Humeniuk specified that the “shahed” UAVs were launched from the southeast direction, but not along the usual route.

“Primarily through the Kherson region, but there was an obvious direction towards the Kryvyi Rih region. Three drones were destroyed there, and one was shot down in the Kherson region, but there were also hits on one of the industrial enterprises. Drones also struck in the Kherson region. Once again, purely civilian infrastructure has been damaged, including agricultural enterprises”, she added.

As we previously reported, Russia released a record number of Shahed-136 drones in September – a total of 521 combat drones.
