Today, January 23, 2024, Russian forces conducted a massive rocket shelling of Ukraine, launching over 40 rockets of various types.
This information was reported by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valeriy Zaluzhny.
During the night of January 23, 2024, the enemy carried out a combined rocket strike on Ukraine, using guided cruise, ballistic, aviation, and anti-aircraft missiles.
Air defense forces were able to destroy 21 enemy missiles out of the 41 launched into Ukrainian territory.
Most of the missiles belonged to types that attack on a ballistic trajectory:
- 4 anti-aircraft guided missiles S-300/S-400 from the Belgorod region – towards the Kharkiv region;
- 15 cruise missiles Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55 from six Tu-95MS strategic bombers (launch area – Engels, Russia);
- 8 Kh-22 missiles from Tu-22M3 bombers from the Bryansk and Oryol regions – towards the Kharkiv and Sumy regions;
- 12 Iskander-M ballistic missiles (launch area – Belgorod and Voronezh regions);
- 2 guided aviation missiles Kh-59 from two Su-34 aircraft (launch area – Belgorod region, Russia).
As a result of the combat operations carried out by the Air Force in collaboration with the air defense systems of the Armed Forces, the following were destroyed:
- 15 cruise missiles Kh-101/Kh-555/Kh-55;
- 5 Iskander-M ballistic missiles;
- 1 guided aviation missile Kh-59.
It is crucial to note that not all enemy missiles attacking on a ballistic trajectory reached their targets.
