Ukraine has conducted its largest exchange of prisoners with Russia since the start of the full-scale war. Ukraine has returned 207 of its citizens, including 48 who were considered missing. In return, Russia received 195 of its occupiers.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced this development.

Among the released prisoners are members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, National Guard, State Border Guard Service, and National Police. Many of them were defenders of Mariupol, military personnel on Snake Island, as well as on the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Luhansk, Kherson, and Sumy fronts.

“Our guys are home. 207 lads. We bring them back despite everything. We remember each and every one in captivity. Soldiers and civilians. We have to bring them all back. We’re working on it,” said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has returned nearly 2,800 military and civilians from Russian captivity. The latest exchange of prisoners took place on January 3, 2024.
