The Polish prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation into the violation of the country's airspace during Russia's massive attack on Ukrainian cities on December 29.

This is reported by RMF24.

The investigation is being conducted by the military department of the regional prosecutor’s office in Lublin regarding the creation of a serious threat to the lives of many people and property of particularly large dimensions.

“As part of the investigation, the prosecutor’s office will try to establish the circumstances of the incident and the origin and purpose of the ‘object,’ which was likely a cruise missile”, the statement said.

Recall that on the night of December 29, during massive missile strikes on Ukraine, a Russian missile entered Polish airspace. The airborne target likely came from the Caspian Sea, crossing the Polish border in the northeastern part of the country.

Later, Polish military officials determined that the missile penetrated 40 kilometers into Polish territory and returned to Ukraine three minutes later. Following the incident, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russia’s temporary chargé d’affaires for explanations.
