The Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) has succeeded in gaining access to the servers of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Now, the intelligence possesses a trove of secret official documentation from the Russian Ministry of War.
This was reported by GUR.
“Cyber specialists of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine have carried out another successful special operation against the aggressor state of Russia ― as a result of the attack, access to the servers of the Russian Ministry of Defense was obtained”, the statement said.
Now, the Ukrainian intelligence service possesses software for information protection and encryption previously used by the Russian Ministry of Defense, as well as a trove of secret official documentation from the Russian Ministry of War.
Specifically, this includes:
- Orders,
- Reports,
- Directives,
- Reports,
- Other documents that circulated among over 2000 structural units of the Russian military department.
According to GUR, the obtained information allows for establishing the complete structure of the Russian Ministry of Defense and its links.
“The analysis of the data obtained also helped identify the general staff, other senior officials of the structural units of the Russian Ministry of Defense, as well as deputies, assistants, specialists ― all who used the software for electronic document management called ‘burokrat’ (bureaucrat)”, intelligence reported.
For example, the intelligence now has access to the official documentation of the Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, Ivanov Timur Vadimovich.
It is noted that this deputy of Shoigu played an important role in making the cyber-attack successful.
It is worth reminding that on February 29, the Ukrainian IT army attacked the largest Internet portal in Russia, Mail.ru. It is reported that all users outside of Russia and part of the internal users lost access to their accounts.
