A video showing the destruction of the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) has emerged online. The Verkhovna Rada Committee on Defense and Intelligence stated that the first loss of this weapon system in over a year and a half requires thorough investigation.

Roman Kostenko, the secretary of the parliamentary committee on national security, defense, and intelligence, made this statement during an interview on Svoboda.Live.

He mentioned that pinpointing the exact impact of a ballistic missile such as the “Iskander” on the target takes a lot of time. He added that in the released footage, the HIMARS fires from the rear, and enemy reconnaissance is actively working to detect it.

“When drones fly like this and ‘paint’ it – there are standard means, even at our tactical or sometimes operational level, and you see that something is flying over you. Therefore, it is necessary to understand who was responsible for air defense, who ensured air security. I am sure that if there are tablets at the level of platoon and company commanders that show the flights of UAVs, then at the HIMARS level, each vehicle should have this, and it should be monitoring what is flying over it, and based on this, take one position or another”, he said.

Recently, the American publication Newsweek and several media outlets shared a video showing Russian forces hitting the Ukrainian HIMARS multiple rocket launcher system from a distance of over 40 kilometers from the current front line. The incident occurred near the village of Nikanorivka in Pokrovsky district of Donetsk region.
