On Tuesday, April 2, the armed forces of Belarus began exercises in regions bordering Ukraine, Lithuania, and Poland.
This was reported by the Belarusian Ministry of Defense.
The exercises aim to evaluate the readiness of military units. A comprehensive territorial defense training will take place in the Homiel region from April 2 to April 4. Additionally, a training camp with reservists of territorial forces will occur in the Minsk region by the end of April.
The Ministry of Defense stated that these exercises will focus on protecting and defending territorial defense objects, as well as participating in measures to ensure wartime security involving volunteers from the territorial defense.
Furthermore, a training camp for reservists of territorial forces, under the leadership of the head of the Vileika District Executive Committee of the Minsk Region, will be conducted from April 2 to April 26. The camp will include preparations for military obligations, training for military specialties, and the use of local mobilization deployment bases.
Since March 11, Belarus has been conducting checks on the combat readiness of its armed forces, including training exercises for communication troops, anti-aircraft missile units, and air defense units, involving at least 3,000 reservists. It has also been reported that mercenaries associated with the Wagner Group, disbanded by the Kremlin, are participating in these exercises.
Earlier, it was announced that Belarus had initiated a check on the combat readiness of military units in its armed forces in March, with Russian instructors providing training to Belarusian soldiers.
