In Germany, there are many Russians who openly support Russia's war against Ukraine.

This was stated in an interview on KYIV24 by the director of the European Stability Initiative in Berlin, Sergiy Sumlennyi.

“The police in Germany are not very active in spreading information. This is normal practice for investigations. What we know now is already more than the police usually share. We know who this man is, who was arrested for killing Ukrainian soldiers. We know he is 57 years old”, he said.

Sergiy Sumlennyi emphasized that there are many anti-Ukrainian Russians in Germany who even gather in certain groups.

“He is a well-known figure in pro-Putin circles, these are anti-Ukrainian Russians. There are many of them in Germany. He was a member of many of these communities and even openly wore chevrons with the letter ‘Z’. They are proud of it. Demonstrating these symbols is prohibited in Germany. But in practice, this law does not work”, Sumlennyi explained.

Recall that on April 27 in the city of Murnau-am-Staffelsee, two Ukrainians, born in 1987 and 2001, were killed as a result of stab wounds at a local shopping center. The Ukrainians killed in Germany were reportedly military personnel undergoing medical rehabilitation. According to the General Consulate of Ukraine in Munich, the police in Garmisch-Partenkirchen arrested a 57-year-old Russian citizen on suspicion of committing a double murder. The investigation is ongoing.
