American senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal, who represent the Republican and Democratic parties of the USA, arrived in Ukraine on Thursday.
The press service of the President’s Office reported that they met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
During the meeting, Zelensky asked them to support the decision to provide Ukraine with modern air defense systems. According to him, this is a necessary condition for the resumption of education in schools.
“The number one task for us today is for women with children to be able to return to Ukraine by September 1, so that children can go to school, so that students do not leave and can go to universities,” Zelenskyy added. “It is very important for us to do two things – to repair schools, universities, and to have a powerful air defence.” -The President said.
“First of all, we appeal to you so that the Congress supports Ukraine in the matter of supplying modern air defense systems,” Zelenskyy said. “We must ensure such a level of sky security that our people are not afraid to live in Ukraine”
Zelenskyy added.
Graham and Blumenthal, who were the initiators of the resolution recognizing Russia as a sponsor state of terrorism, Zelensky told how work is progressing.
