Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated that Ukraine can expect to receive 500,000 artillery shells by the end of 2024 as part of the Czech initiative to purchase them from third countries.

She made this announcement at an informal meeting of Ukraine’s allies in Prague, reports European Pravda.

Frederiksen emphasized that ammunition and air defense remain the most critical priorities for Ukraine to defend itself and must be supplied as quickly as possible.

“With the funds raised by the Czech initiative, we plan to send half a million artillery shells to Ukraine by the end of this year,” she said.

The Danish Prime Minister expressed hope that these supplies “will make a real difference on the battlefield” in Ukraine and promised to continue supporting Kyiv “for as long as it takes.”

Additionally, Frederiksen stressed the need to support the production of weapons and ammunition in Ukraine. “The Ukrainian defense industry, I must say, is truly impressive, and it makes sense to produce weapons where they are used,” she said.

It should be noted that the Czech Republic has taken the initiative to purchase 800,000 artillery shells for Ukraine. Thanks to its connections with countries of the Global South that have stocks of Soviet-era weapons, it has managed to find suppliers worldwide.

The procurement of ammunition will help Ukraine fend off Russian aggressors. This demonstrates that the world does not agree with Russia’s actions and is ready to support Ukraine in its struggle for freedom.
